Petaling Jaya, Malaysia – Bosch, leading global supplier of technology and services, today announced the appointment of Klaus Landhaeusser as the company’s new managing director of its businesses in Malaysia.

Malaysia is not new to me as I was stationed here for about three and a half years, heading the local sales of original equipment. It feels great to be back with a greater responsibility where I can continue to build on the strong network and foundation that Bosch has long established in this country and hopefully take the business to new heights,

Klaus Landhaeusser, Managing Director for Malaysia

Malaysia houses the largest manufacturing facilities for the company in the region, namely three and soon four manufacturing plants. Besides integrated with connected solutions, each plant has individual R&D teams, engineering and developing vehicle electronics, power tools, automotive steering products, and in the pipeline semiconductors for local and worldwide market.

“The Malaysian government has intensified Industry 4.0 initiatives, which are in line with Bosch’s strength. Be it sensors, software or services, Bosch possesses all the key competencies to shape the country’s Industry 4.0,” commented Landhaeusser. “We have been collaborating with the government and local partners through national technical and vocational education and training initiatives to upskill the workforce, driving I4.0 as well as digital transformation. I intend to continue these meaningful collaborations with industry partners, supporting the country to stay competitive,”

Landhaeusser also plans to expand Bosch Malaysia’s services and solutions portfolio. “One example is our building technology solutions. For many years, Bosch has been offering intelligent security cameras with video analytics. To address the current pressing needs due to the pandemic, the same solution is configured for crowd management with thermal detection and even integratedwith third-party systems to enable distance meetings and video conferencing.”

He continued, “This goes to show that in times of crisis, innovation needs to be rolled out faster than before. That is why Bosch continues to ramp up our R&D capabilities to ensure our products remain relevant and fascinating while retaining what our products are known for - durable, efficient and now climate-friendly.”

Besides the Malaysian business, Landhaeusser continues to helm the automotive sales of original equipment in Southeast Asia as a regional director. He explained how R&D improves energy efficiency of the mobility sphere, which is also his forte. “Bosch has been developing systems and components for car manufacturers for over a century. Constant R&D presents breakthrough in e-mobility and the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs) are manifold, primarily it is better for the environment due to far lesser carbon emission. The awareness and adoption of EVs in Malaysia is currently at its infancy, but once the country embraces and catches up with the global shift, there is a huge potential for Bosch to lend its expertise to grow the country’s e-mobility sector.”

An automotive engineer by profession, Landhaeusser has amassed over 20 years of automotive sales, marketing, government relations and leadership experience at Bosch. With his extensive knowledge and experience in the automotive industry as well as former responsibility as the regional head of external affairs and government relations at Bosch, Landhaeusser is confident that Bosch will remain committed in the Malaysian market, continue making a difference to the local community through its technology and solutions that are invented for life.
